This site is the web portal of the Research on PhD (RoPe) project, a multi-institutional project on PhD dropout and persistence.
This project was established out of the wish to understand the meaning that graduate students ascribe to their experience, to analyze the reasons for quitting, and to study the dynamic of persistence in doctoral studies.
On the long term, our purpose is to identify ways of improving graduate students’ support, training and well-being, on the basis of the collected data.
We are indeed convinced that, in order for research to progress and for society to flourish, it is essential to provide graduate students with the conditions that will allow them to move forward and to complete their PhD.
This website is primarily aimed at former, current and future graduate students of the Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) and the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Brussels, Belgium).
Your participation is important. High participation rates are indeed necessary if we want the results to have a real impact on existing policies, practices and educational methods relating to doctoral studies.
